Kenya Power and Lighting Company has signed a new electricity supply agreement with Ethiopia’s state-owned utility Reports indicate that KPLC secured power at approximately 24.07 Ethiopian birr (about US$0.15 or roughly KSh 20) per kilowatt-hour, in addition to a monthly demand charge of ETB 1,010.89 (about KSh 800) The deal, signed on July 10, 2026, in Addis Ababa, aims to strengthen cross-border electricity trade and expand reliable power supply to communities along the shared border
