‘Ink’ trailer: Danny Boyle chronicles Rupert Murdoch’s rise and the birth of The Sun

The first trailer for Ink has been released, offering a frenetic first look at Danny Boyle ’s drama about Rupert Murdoch’s 1969 takeover of the struggling British newspaper The Sun . Jack O’Connell stars as editor Larry Lamb, with Guy Pearce playing the young Murdoch and Claire Foy portraying Jules Davies, a fictional journalist created as a composite of women who worked on Fleet Street at the time.

Set in London in 1969, the film follows Murdoch as he recruits Lamb to relaunch The Sun and compete with the hugely successful Daily Mirror . The trailer shows Lamb assembling a newsroom around a new philosophy of newspaper publishing, asking what readers actually want before pushing the paper towards stories about television, crime, sport and sex.
