Injury with Netherlands national team forces Gakpo to return to Liverpool early

Hear this story Cody Gakpo will miss both of the Netherlands national team's remaining October UEFA Nations League matches after suffering an ankle injury in the Oranje 's 2-1 win over Serbia on Sunday, Sept. 27.

Gakpo made it just 17 minutes into the match in Belgrade, with his ankle getting caught between the legs of Serbia midfielder Saša Lukić.

The 27-year-old has returned to Liverpool for further evaluation.

"Gakpo will now return to Liverpool for further assessment by the club’s medical staff at the AXA Training Centre," a statement from Liverpool read.
