Inflow into Mettur Dam increases to 11,988 cusecs
Inflow into the Mettur Dam in Tamil Nadu has surged to 11,988 cusecs following water releases from Karnataka. Despite the increase, the reservoir remains well below its full capacity, with current storage at 36.24 tmcft.

With water released from the dam in Karnataka reaching Mettur Dam, the inflow increased to 11,988 cusecs here on Wednesday (August 5, 2026). The inflow on Tuesday (August 4, 2026) was 67 cusecs.
According to officials from the Water Resources Department, the water level stood at 74.01 feet at 8 a.m. against the full reservoir level of 120 feet. The storage was 36.24 tmcft, compared to the full capacity of 93.47 tmcft. The discharge into River Cauvery for drinking water was 1,500 cusecs. No rainfall was recorded in the region.
