Indonesia Spends $32 Billion on Education Through September

Indonesia's Finance Ministry reported that the country spent approximately $32 billion on education through September 2026. This funding supports student assistance, teacher salaries, and free meal programs for schoolchildren.

Indonesia spent Rp 574.2 trillion ($32.07 billion) on education through September 2026, accounting for 21.6% of total state spending of Rp 2,660.5 trillion, Finance Deputy Minister Suahasil Nazara said on Friday.
The education budget funded student assistance, teacher and lecturer salaries and allowances, free nutritious meals for schoolchildren, and the operation and improvement of educational facilities, Suahasil said at the Finance Ministry's October edition of its APBN KiTa press conference in Jakarta.
"The education budget stands at Rp 574.2 trillion," Suahasil said.
