Indonesia plans to introduce limited dual citizenship for highly skilled foreign nationals and members of the Indonesian diaspora as part of a proposed revision to the country's nationality law, Justice Minister Supratman Andi Agtas said on Thursday.
The government will ask the House of Representatives to include the proposal in its deliberations on amendments to the Citizenship Law. If approved, the new framework would allow selected individuals to acquire Indonesian citizenship without giving up their original nationality.
"If the House agrees, the government will propose limited dual citizenship," Supratman was quoted as saying by the Kompas news website.
