Indonesia ferry death toll rises to 64 - Channel NewsAsia

--> In Indonesia, the death toll from the sinking of the Virgo Transport 8 ferry in the Java Sea has risen to 64. Rescuers extended the search operation by another seven days, as 71 people are still being sought.

The ferry departed from Surabaya — Indonesia's second-largest city on the island of Java — for Banjarmasin on the island of Borneo, after which it lost contact with the shipping company. There were 213 passengers and 30 crew members on board, making 243 people in total.
