TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police's Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) arrested 11 individuals linked and affiliated with a terrorist network since Friday, October 2, 2026. The anti-terror police unit suspects that they are connected to the Daulah Islamiyah terrorist group, among others. Densus 88 spokesperson, Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, said the arrests were made after being tipped about suspicious activities across six Indonesian provinces: West Java, Central Java, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Riau, and North Maluku.Mayndra said these activities included network consolidation, training activities, and the dissemination of propaganda. "Recruitment, both in-person and through social media, as well as involvement in conspiring to commit terrorist acts," Mayndra said in a written statement on Sunday, October 4, 2026.Preliminary investigation indicates cross-regional connections between the suspects, particularly through online meetings, indoctrination, network consolidation, and training activities.
