India eyes strong Para Asian Games campaign despite reduced contingent

India is preparing for the upcoming Para Asian Games in Nagoya with a significantly smaller contingent than in previous years. Despite the reduction in athletes and some selection disputes, the team aims to build on their record-breaking performance from the 2023 Hangzhou games.
Why it matters

India finished fifth in Hangzhou in 2023 with 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze medals, its best-ever haul at the continental multi-sport event. The challenge in Aichi-Nagoya will be different, with the country fielding around 168 athletes across 11 disciplines, compared to 303 in China.
