Indian cricket’s senior leadership met on Thursday (September 3) to draw up a roadmap for next year’s ODI World Cup in South Africa and plan for the challenging tours of SENA countries. The meeting comes on the back of India’s underwhelming showing in Ireland and England in June-July, when they lost six T20Is and two ODIs across the two tours. “The roadmap has been prepared and we will be doing some exercises so that we have a very good performance in the 2027 World Cup,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who presided over the meeting, said. “Our main intention is that we should have the best team combination in place by October-November next year for the ODI World Cup.” Test and ODI skipper Shubman Gill, T20I captain Shreyas Iyer and head of cricket VVS Laxman were present at the meeting.
