UPDATED: Oct 8, 2026 23:18 IST Opposition Protest Highlights: Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra left Rajghat after a sit-in protest against the Election Commission and alleged electoral irregularities. CPI(M) leader John Brittas said the INDIA bloc’s protests would continue until Gyanesh Kumar resigns. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi claimed the country was united in demanding Kumar’s resignation and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address public concerns. Meanwhile, Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar questioned the protests, noting that the SIR issue is already before the Supreme Court. He accused the Opposition of attempting to create an atmosphere of “anarchy” and said people had lost faith in them. BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari also criticised Rahul Gandhi’s street protests ahead of the Supreme Court hearing, alleging that Congress was trying to pressure constitutional institutions, undermine judicial credibility and create disorder through demonstrations. ...
