IN-SPACe moves to privatise operations of Rs 986 cr spaceport
India's space regulator, IN-SPACe, has invited private companies to take over the operations and maintenance of the new Rs 986-crore Small Satellite Launch Complex in Kulasekarapattinam. This initiative aims to transition the facility into a commercially managed hub for small satellite launches, with ISRO providing initial technical training and support.

BENGALURU: Space promoter-cum-regulator IN-SPACe has begun the process of handing over the operations and management of the Rs 986-crore Small Satellite Launch Complex (SLC) being developed by Isro at Kulasekarapattinam in Tamil Nadu to the private sector.As per initial plans for the second spaceport, spread across approximately 2,233 acres, the govt had said that post commissioning, the launches of SSLV and equivalent launch vehicles from the private sector are expected to be carried out from there.
