Andhra Pradesh is set to get an aviation boost on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district. The inauguration comes as PM Modi is headed for a two state visit to Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. During the visit, he will also lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over Rs 17,900 crore in Bhogapuram before addressing a public gathering. Ahead of the inauguration, the PM will also undertake a walk-through of the airport's passenger terminal building. Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost of more than Rs 5,640 crore, the Greenfield airport has been designed to handle six million passengers annually. The project is aimed at strengthening air connectivity while supporting regional growth.
