The Bihar government on Saturday (October 10, 2026) suspended the Headmaster of a government school on allegations of selling the mid-day meal rice meant for the school children. The action has been taken after proper inquiry, and the video of selling rice has also gone viral on social media.
Regional Deputy Director of Education, Tirhut Division, Muzaffarpur, Samar Bahadur Singh, in a letter said that District Education Officer, East Champaran (Motihari), on October 7, 2026, reported allegations against Sunil Kumar Srivastava, in-charge Headmaster of Government Basic School located in Bhawanipur (East Champaran).
“The allegations included the sale of Mid-Day Meal rice, the presence of rice in the store exceeding the recorded stock in the register, and sleeping on the school premises. A recommendation was made to initiate disciplinary action against him,” Mr Singh said.
