Improved security in South Sudan has enabled the Catholic Church to expand its pastoral ministry, Bishop Matthew Remijio Adam of the country’s Catholic Diocese of Wau has said, crediting the prevailing stability and collaboration between the Church and the government with allowing Clergy to serve the faithful more effectively despite ongoing logistical and economic challenges.
Speaking to ACI Africa on the sidelines of the 21st Plenary Assembly of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi (ADN), Bishop Remijio described the Diocese of Wau as a vast and vibrant Local Church where pastoral ministry continues to grow despite long travel distances, poor road infrastructure, and limited resources.
