An online fundraiser has been launched for a talented Kiwi teen surfer who died after being struck by a vehicle in Australia. Taika Cleland-Pottie, 17, was hit by a car on Cunningham Highway at Clumber, 86km southwest of Brisbane, around 6.20pm on Friday, August 28. In a GoFundMe page, his aunt Isla Amin said the whānau had "lost our beautiful Taika under tragic circumstances". "Obviously our pain is immeasurable but we are doing our best to support each other through this unbearable time. Some of our wider whānau have expressed a wish to contribute towards giving Taika the send-off he deserves," Amin said.
