An illegal gutkha and pan masala manufacturing unit operating from a premises in Muradnagar, Asif Nagar, was busted by Hyderabad police, with raw material, finished products and machinery collectively valued at about ₹50 lakh seized.

Three workers were apprehended and two children allegedly engaged as workers at the unit were rescued during the raid conducted jointly by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda Zone, and Asif Nagar police.

Police identified the three workers as Rohit Kumar alias Rohit Yadav, 25, Saurabh alias Saurabh Chowhan, 20, and Matadeen alias Rahul Permer, 21. The alleged operators, Zubair and Muzzaffer alias Dada, are absconding.

According to the police, the unit was allegedly manufacturing AAA, Badshah and Sagar pan masala and gutkha/tobacco products without valid licences. The packets allegedly did not carry mandatory information such as manufacturing and expiry dates, batch numbers, MRP, ingredients or statutory warnings.
