Ikeja Electric Begins Refunds For Customers Who Paid For Meters

Ikeja Electric has begun issuing refunds to customers who previously paid for electricity meters under the Meter Asset Provider programme. The company is using an online dashboard to manage these credits and has warned customers against using unauthorized electricians for repairs.
Why it matters
This initiative addresses long-standing consumer grievances regarding utility costs and highlights critical safety concerns regarding electrical infrastructure in Nigeria.
Ikeja Electric Plc has commenced refunds to customers who previously paid for electricity meters under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) programme.
The distribution company disclosed this during its September virtual stakeholder engagement, a monthly forum in which it provides updates on its operations and responds to customer-raised issues.
Ikeja Electric said customers qualified for refunds would receive them as credits applied to their electricity vending transactions within the approved refund period.
The company explained that customers could monitor the progress of their refunds through its online refund dashboard by entering their meter or account numbers.
According to Ikeja Electric, the dashboard displays details including the cost of the meter, number of refunds processed, monthly refund amount, cumulative amount refunded and the date of the most recent refund.
