IIT-H faculty teach technical courses at tribal university

IIT Hyderabad faculty have begun teaching at the Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University to improve academic standards. The partnership includes the introduction of new B.Tech and B.Sc. programs in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics.
Why it matters
This collaboration bridges the gap between elite technical institutions and rural tribal education, potentially increasing high-tech career opportunities for marginalized communities.
Indian Institute of Technology - Hyderabad (IIT-H) faculty have begun teaching at the Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University (SSCTU) campus in Mulugu under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.
Under the agreement, IIT-H has to mentor and design academic programmes offered by SSCTU to strengthen the standards. Teaching by the hand-holding institute is rare but the SSCTU was able to bring the IIT faculty to expose rural students to world-class teachers.
In collaboration with IIT Hyderabad, SSCTU has introduced a B.Tech programme in Computer Science and Engineering with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CSE-AIML) and a B.Sc. (Hons.) programme in Computer Science and Data Analytics from the 2026-27 academic year.
