IIT Bombay Student Warned Of 1-Year Suspension For Using ChatGPT In Exam? What Institute Said

Sahil Wakode, a second-year Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay student of the Energy Science and Engineering department died by suicide on Friday evening after he was caught using a mobile during an exam.According to the institute, Sahil was caught uploading the examination question paper on ChatGPT to seek answers during the examination.The officials said that no disciplinary action was initiated against the student. Howeve, the student claimed that the student accused of cheating had allegedly been threatened with a one-year suspension. What IIT Bombay SaidA second-year student of the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay died by suicide today evening. Earlier in the day, during an examination, the student was found using a mobile phone in the exam hall. He had uploaded the examination question paper on ChatGPT to seek answers. No disciplinary action was initiated against the student.
