If you've gotten a raise in the past two years, it's now been nearly all eaten away by inflation
Recent economic data indicates that inflation is outpacing wage growth for the average American worker. Despite nominal pay raises over the last two years, the purchasing power of hourly earnings remains stagnant due to rising consumer prices.
Why it matters
Persistent inflation erodes the financial stability of households, complicating the economic outlook for the average consumer.
Getting a job is the important part, as these job seekers might attest. Allison Joyce/Bloomberg via Getty Images Have you gotten a raise over the past couple of years? Inflation has likely eaten it away. It's more evidence that affordability challenges in the US economy aren't going away.
