IEBC dismisses claims of voter registration malpractice

IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon / HANDOUT The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has dismissed allegations of illegal voter registration, unlawful transfer of voters and registration of foreigners, saying the claims remain unsubstantiated.

In a statement on Sunday, the commission said it had not received credible evidence from any individual, group or organisation to support the allegations.

IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon said the commission remains committed to protecting the integrity of the voter registration process and ensuring that its mandate is exercised in accordance with the law.

In previous statements, Ethekon has said the commission is required to maintain an accurate and up-to-date voter register while operating independently and within the legal framework.

The commission said it had noted with grave concern what it described as the continued dissemination of misleading and unverified information concerning its constitutional mandate and preparations for the 2027 General Election.
