Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has released five Lebanese civilians whom it held and who weren't suspected of terrorist activity, saying the move was a show of goodwill in the talks with Lebanon.
Netanyahu said the Lebanese government had joined Israeli efforts to locate the bodies of Lebanese Jewish community leaders killed in the 1980s by various terror groups. "In light of these significant efforts, Israel decided to release five Lebanese civilians who had been detained in areas under IDF control in southern Lebanon," he said, adding that interrogations concluded that they "had not engaged in terrorism."
