IDF probe: Paga Outpost was not prepared for October 7 attack

The IDF failed in its mission to defend the Paga Outpost, officially known as Magen Be'eri, during the October 7 massacre and did not prevent the area from falling into enemy hands, the military's probe, released on Thursday, found.The probe found that the failures at Paga Outpost reflected the systemic failures in preparedness for the attack in terms of the operational readiness of combat positions, the infrastructure required for fighting, soldiers lacking key equipment, and more.The Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) at the location was not adequately prepared for the mission. However, the operational reality faced by the soldiers was that individual heroism and noteworthy actions occurred at both the junior officer and soldier levels, in both the company sector and at the outpost.In total, 22 soldiers, including officers, were murdered during the massacre at the Paga Outpost, with an additional 18 wounded in action.
