IDF Bars Palestinians From West Bank Settlements for the Coming Days

Tensions in the West Bank have escalated following deadly clashes, leading the IDF to restrict Palestinian movement and increase military operations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is preparing for a diplomatic visit to Washington amid the ongoing conflict.
Why it matters
The situation underscores the volatile security environment in the Middle East and the complex intersection of local military operations and international diplomacy.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the IDF is prepared to expand its operations against what he called "terror nests" in the West Bank, as the IDF raided numerous Palestinian localities following Friday's deadly clashes near Nablus in which two Israelis and four Palestinians were killed.
Earlier, Physicians for Human Rights Israel, a human rights group, said the IDF's closure around the Palestinian city of Nablus has disrupted emergency medical services in the area, forcing two women to give birth in ambulances after being unable to reach a hospital.
Over the weekend, Israeli forces raided Palestinian towns and villages across the West Bank, conducting widespread searches, field interrogations and arrests, while settler violence has run rampant in response to Friday's shooting incident.
Ministers attending Sunday's meeting called to escalate the Israeli military's response and to change the IDF's open-fire policy, a source said.
