ICPAU warns CPA students against gossip, blame over exam failures

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has urged students pursuing the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) course to concentrate on their studies and avoid gossiping or blaming others when they fail examinations.

ICPAU Chief Executive Officer Derick Nkajja said professional accounting courses require discipline, commitment and a strong focus on professionalism, adding that examinations are designed to ensure only competent professionals enter the accountancy profession.

Mr Nkajja made the remarks during the release of the August 2026 examination results in Kampala on September 14.

He urged students to develop effective communication skills, respect others, show empathy and avoid gossip as they pursue their professional qualifications.

“We must have effective communication as professional accountants, respect and empathy, treating everyone with kindness, avoiding gossip and accepting different views,” Mr Nkajja said.
