Iarnród Éireann board to be updated on IT contract status
Iarnród Éireann is set to update its board regarding the termination of a contract with Spanish firm Indra after a failed €50m rail traffic management project. The company is now working with the National Transport Authority to find a replacement system.

The board of Iarnród Éireann is to be updated on the status of the contract it has with Spanish group Indra, which was hired to provide a rail traffic management system which was subsequently abandoned at a cost of €50m.
Iarnród Éireann said today its board would be informed about the "proposed way forward to deliver a necessary replacement to the existing signalling control system."
It said this arose from "Indra's failure to deliver a product fit and safe for deployment on our rail network."
