A sense of collective trauma hangs over Cambridge Terrace in Auckland's Papatoetoe, after a number of people - including children - saw a bloodied dead body on the doorstep of a suburban house on Thursday night.
When police arrived at the scene around 6.40pm on Thursday, they found another two bodies.
Police have since confirmed that those who died at the property were "three family members" .
RNZ has been told by multiple sources that two children live at the property, but has not been able to confirm whether they are among the deceased.
The community is reeling from the deaths.
One resident, George, said he was "not really good at the moment" after seeing the body.
His seven-year-old daughter saw it as well.
