I'm glad I had the opportunity to travel the world, but the lifestyle had its challenges. Alice Lemee I grew up in New York City, but in my early 20s, I started aching to explore the world. When I realized I could work remotely and travel full-time , I jumped at the opportunity. There were surprising challenges, though, and after five years, I settled back down in New York. I grew up in New York during the era when high schoolers had green Student Metrocards and St. Marks was a grimy strip of dollar-pizza spots, underage tongue piercings, and cheap alcohol. I loved coming of age in New York City, but when I entered my early 20s, I started itching for a change.
