I spent about $23 an hour for Frontier Airlines' premium class. I'd upgrade again, but only on one kind of flight.
A traveler shares their experience upgrading to Frontier Airlines' 'UpFront Plus' premium seating, noting the value of an empty middle seat for comfort. The author concludes that while the upgrade is worthwhile for early morning flights, the cost-benefit analysis depends on individual travel needs.
Why it matters
Budget airlines are increasingly unbundling services, making it difficult for consumers to determine the true cost and value of premium upgrades.
Ultimately, upgrading to Frontier's UpFront Plus worked out for me on this flight. Ash Jurberg I paid $159 for Frontier's Business Bundle, which included an upgrade to UpFront Plus. The upgrade didn't come with much, and my seat was fixed in a slightly reclined position. Still, I liked having an empty seat next to me and slept for most of the flight. I'd do this again. I had two days in Cleveland and one thing I'd wanted to do for years: Visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The best flight option was with the budget carrier Frontier Airlines , and it was departing Denver at 6:45 a.m. To make it on time, I'd have to wake at 3:30 a.m. and be out of the hotel by 4. I knew I'd be tired, and I was willing to put money toward (hopefully) fixing this problem.
