I&M Bank has officially appointed veteran banker Abdi Mohamed as its new Chief Executive Officer after receiving regulatory approval from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
The appointment comes about three months after Mohamed left Absa Bank Kenya, where he served as Managing Director and CEO, bringing to I&M more than 30 years of experience in banking and financial services across Kenya and other African markets.
In a post shared on its X account on Monday, October 5, 2026, I&M Bank welcomed Mohamed, saying his appointment comes as the lender prepares for its next phase of growth.
Mohamed joined I&M after a 32-year career with Absa and the former Barclays franchise. He became Absa Bank Kenya CEO in May 2023 after previously serving as Managing Director and CEO of Absa Bank Tanzania.
