I ended up in the Falkland Islands almost 11 years ago in the same way as many before me; I answered a job advert in the classifieds. The islands’ TV station was looking for interns at a time when the charm of Edinburgh, where I was living, was wearing off, and expenses and the daily commute were increasing.
