Hyderabad school terminates teacher who allegedly gave 'Kalma' recitation as homework

HYDERABAD: A private school in Hyderabad has terminated a teacher after she allegedly assigned religious homework to Class 2 students, triggering a controversy and protests by the parents of a Hindu student, according to news agency ANI. Success, The School, in Sayeedabad, issued a termination letter on Thursday to teacher Shaik Aisha Parveen, stating, "Further you are informed that you are permanently disqualined to apply for employment in future in the Success Group of Education Institutions." The controversy began after the parents of a Class 2 Hindu student alleged that their child had been instructed to recite the Kalma and Surah Fatiha as part of schoolwork. The parents visited the school and questioned the management, demanding strict action against the authorities and alleging that the instruction was inappropriate.
