Hyderabad police arrest absconding rowdy sheeter disguised as ‘baba’, seize ganja
Hyderabad police have arrested a wanted criminal who had been evading capture by disguising himself as a religious priest at a dargah. Authorities also seized a quantity of ganja from the suspect, who was wanted for a 2018 murder case.

An absconding rowdy sheeter wanted in a murder case was arrested by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad, after he disguised himself as a ‘baba’ and worked as a priest at a dargah in Sangareddy district to evade arrest. Police also seized 115 gm of dry ganja from his possession.
The accused, Mohd Shaik Javed, 33, is a rowdy sheeter of Lake police station and had been absconding since June 5, 2025. He was also wanted in connection with a 2018 murder case registered at Saifabad police station, in which a non-bailable warrant had been issued against him by the court.
Acting on a tip-off, the Khairtabad Zone Task Force, along with Saifabad police, apprehended Javed near Phool Bagh, close to Nana Miya Masjid, within the limits of Saifabad police station.
