Husband dies after falling on sharp stick during playf
A 19-year-old man in Uganda died after accidentally falling on a sharp piece of wood while playing with his wife. Local officials have used the tragedy to urge residents to clear their compounds of dangerous debris.

What began as fun between a young couple turned tragic when the husband fell on a sharp piece of wood and died.
The incident happened at Buguwa village, Buyere parish, Mpungwe subcounty in Mayuge district, when the young couple, Arafat Mugoya, 19, and his wife, Zaituna Nakasolo, 18, took advantage of their sleeping baby to play around the compound.
They were running after each other when Nakasolo pursued her husband. Little did she know that he would fall on a sharp piece of wood, which pierced his heart through the right breast, killing him instantly.
The area LC3 chairperson, Hamis Magumba, confirmed the incident, which occurred at about 4:00 pm on August 18, 2026, and urged families to always clear their compounds of such dangerous objects .
