How to Stop Google’s AI Overviews From Spoiling Everything
Google's AI Overviews are increasingly providing unsolicited spoilers for films and sports results, causing frustration among users. The result was eventually corrected, but screenshots had already spread across social media. Google had managed to spoil the finale–and spoil it incorrectly. An impressive double fault.
Elsewhere, users online are complaining about Google's AI Overviews of certain film titles, which’ll often hand you the plot twist and endings entirely unsolicited. Recently, entire threads dedicated to stopping spoilers and AI summaries have appeared in Google’s own support forums, too.
The irritation points to a surprisingly difficult problem for AI: knowing when an answer is unwanted.
