From a user on Instagram : So much has changed since the 80s regarding HIV/AIDS. What would you highlight? HIV/AIDS stigma shamefully remains. Could you share more about U=U & PEP/PREP?

double quotation mark Alix: I was born in 1982, when the term ‘AIDS’ first entered the dictionary, and when contracting HIV was pretty much a death sentence. Nowadays, I’m a PhD researcher at UCL’s Institute for Global Health, specialising in HIV prevention and care, and a member of activist group ACT UP. Today, people living with HIV who are on effective medication can expect to live long, healthy lives, and I fervently wish that more people knew that we’re a long way from the tombstone ads and grave prognoses of the 80s.
