How different regions will be affected by El Niño rains in Uganda

Uganda is expected to receive near-normal to above-normal rainfall during the September-December season, with the intensity, timing and duration of the rains varying across regions as the El Niño weather phenomenon intensifies.
The Ministry of Water and Environment says most parts of the country will receive about 25 per cent more rainfall than the long-term average, with some areas expected to continue receiving rains into January 2027.
Speaking to journalists at the Uganda Media Centre on Monday, the ministry's Permanent Secretary, Mr Alfred Okot Okidi, said the entire country would be affected, although the intensity of the rains would differ.
