Hot weather to return with highs of 29C forecast

Ireland is bracing for a brief period of hot weather with temperatures expected to reach 29C this week. Met Éireann has issued a warning regarding potential heat stress for vulnerable populations as the country experiences near-drought conditions.
Why it matters
Extreme weather events, even short-lived ones, pose public health risks and highlight the impact of shifting climate patterns on local infrastructure.
The hot weather is to return to Ireland this week with highs of up to 29C expected in parts of the country.
Met Éireann meteorologist Liz Walsh said that the high temperatures are a result of an area of high pressure over Ireland at the moment that moved up from the Azores to the south.
However, low pressure in the Atlantic is going to encroach on the high pressure and Ireland will also experience some rain this week.
Cloud will move in from the west so we will "not have wall to wall sunshine," explained Ms Walsh.
Temperatures will begin to soar tomorrow with warm or very warm and dry weather for most parts of the country.
Met Éireann said there will be highs of 20-27C and that it will be warmest in the east and the midlands.
