Hosur MLA opposes airport plan citing farmers’ concerns

AIADMK MLA P. Balakrishna Reddy has formally opposed the proposed greenfield airport in Hosur, citing concerns from local farmers. He urged the government to cancel the project, drawing parallels to the cancellation of the Parandur airport project.
Why it matters
The conflict between infrastructure development and agricultural land rights remains a critical political issue in regional Indian politics.
AIADMK Hosur MLA P. Balakrishna Reddy on Friday urged the State government to give up the proposed greenfield airport in Hosur over concerns raised by the farmers in the district.
Speaking in the Assembly, Mr. Reddy said the State government should not pursue the project after Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had cancelled the Parandur airport project near Chennai, for which substantial land acquisition had already taken place.
