Mogadishu, 24 August 2026 Hormuud University has selected artificial intelligence as the theme for National Training Week 2026, with a six-day programme to help Somalis apply AI in education, business and employment. The programme will run from Aug. 29 to Sept. 3 and include 24 training sessions led by experts in technology, education, healthcare, business and community development, the university said. Mohamed Abdirahman, director of the Skills Department, said the programme was designed to give the public a basic understanding of AI and its practical applications. “We have designed this programme so that the whole community can benefit, whether they are students, teachers, businesspeople or government employees,” he told Dawan Media on Monday.
