Homicide investigation launched after woman found dead in Wellington

Police have launched a homicide investigation after the death of a woman in Newlands this morning.

Detective Inspector Haley Ryan said police are currently speaking with a man, who is assisting with enquiries.

She said emergency services were called to Gahagan Way around 4am where the woman was found dead inside a property.

A scene guard is in place and there is not believed to be any risk to the public, she said.
