A 24-year-old first-home buyer thought he was sharing one of the biggest moments of his life when he revealed he’d put an offer on an apartment.

Instead of a congratulations, he was hit with a savage response from a friend that has since sparked outrage online.

The young man shared the text exchange on Reddit after what he said was a crushing reaction to news he had hoped would be met with excitement.

“Guess who just put an offer down on a condo?” he messaged his friend.

But rather than celebrate the milestone, she replied with a pointed jab: “Your parents?”

He went on to explain the apartment was one he had been interested in for months and that it had unexpectedly come back on the market after a previous sale fell over.
