Historic Ebola Virus vaccine testing begins in Oxford
Scientists at the Oxford Vaccine Group have begun Phase I clinical trials for a new vaccine targeting the Bundibugyo ebolavirus. The trial aims to address the high fatality rate of the virus, which has been exacerbated by geopolitical instability and urbanization in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Scientists at the Oxford Vaccine Group (OVG) inoculated the first volunteer with a new vaccine against Bundibugyo ebolavirus (BDBV) on 24 July. The milestone comes after just weeks of development using the ChAdOx1 platform, and marks a significant step towards mitigation of the deadly strain.
