Historian M.R. Raghava Varier selected for M.G.S. Narayanan Memorial Award
Historian M.R. Raghava Varier has been named the recipient of the 2026 Prof. M.G.S. Narayanan Memorial Award for his extensive contributions to linguistics and history. The award will be formally presented during the 10th International Kerala History Conference in Malappuram.

Historian M.R. Raghava Varier has been selected for the 2026 Prof. M.G.S. Narayanan Memorial Award, instituted jointly by the Kerala History Congress and the Calicut Heritage Forum.
The award carries a cash prize of ₹50,000 and a citation. Prof. Varier, a former faculty member of the Department of History at the University of Calicut, has made significant contributions to linguistics, palaeography, and literary criticism.
He has received several honours, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and the Kairali Award instituted by the Keralam government. His contributions across diverse fields of knowledge were considered in selecting him for the award, the organisers said.
