Hindu outfit against making Vinayaka idols with chemicals

Hindu Munnani has appealed to Collector N. O. Sukhaputra to prevent the manufacture and sale of Lord Vinayaka idols using Plaster of Paris and chemical paints that would pollute water bodies.
In a petition, Murugesan, a functionary, said the district administration should only encourage idols made of papier mache and clay. In recent times, some people were making idols of Plaster of Paris and toxic chemical paints for commercial gain. Such unlawful manufacture and sale of idols made of materials that damage ecology was happening in Virudhunagar district.
