Hindu College Staff Association flags ‘lapses’ in administration, urges DU V-C to take over

The Hindu College Staff Association has formally requested the Delhi University Vice-Chancellor to intervene in the college's administration due to alleged irregularities. The association cites issues ranging from improper admissions to structural safety concerns in new buildings.
Why it matters
Internal governance disputes at major educational institutions can impact academic integrity and student welfare.
The Hindu College Staff Association (HCSA) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh urging him to take over the college’s administration.
The association also sought an independent and time-bound inquiry into alleged irregularities in admissions, finances, procurement and appointments, and the college’s functioning. It alleged that there were irregularities in supernumerary admissions despite objections from teachers-in-charge and committee conveners.
It claimed that norms such as the prescribed 20% cap and applicable university ordinances had been breached. It also claimed that a meeting to ratify the admissions was presented as a staff council meeting even though no such meeting had been convened or attended by HCSA members.
The development comes against the backdrop of a controversy over admissions under the extracurricular activities and sports categories.
