Hindi Department at Government Victoria College here celebrated the Hindi Day on Monday (September 14) in association with the Hindi Mayavidyalayam of Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha and Souhridam National Forum, Palakkad.

Souhridam National Forum district president and theatre personality P.V. Sahadevan inaugurated the celebrations. Hindi department head Sindhu S.L. presided over the function.

Hindi Nahin Toh , a play written and directed by Mr. Sahadevan, was staged on the occasion. The play featured Bharat Mata, Mahatma Gandhi, Devdas Gandhi, Bharatendu Harishchandra and poet Bharathiyar as characters. Hindi and Tamil poems and dance performances celebrating Hindi and other Indian languages were also presented. A pledge in Hindi was administered on the occasion.
