Highways Department plans to begin work on Singanallur flyover in Coimbatore city in a month
The Tamil Nadu Highways Department plans to begin construction on a 2.4 km four-lane flyover in Singanallur, Coimbatore, within a month. Local activists are urging officials to prioritize land acquisition to avoid the delays and public inconvenience seen in previous projects.

The State Highways Department is planning to start the construction of a flyover at Singanallur in a month. Officials of the Department said a four-lane flyover will be constructed for 2.4 km across the Singanallur junction on Trichy Road in the city.
“We have finalised the contractor and the work agreement will be signed soon,” one of the officials said.
The project involves acquisition of 1,500 sq. m. of land in bits to have wider service roads for the ramps. The main carriageway will be four lane and the service roads will be two-lane on either side.
To be taken up at a total cost of ₹170 crore, the project will be completed in two years of the commencement of the work.
Since land will be acquired only for wider area near the ramps, the main carriageway works will start at the earliest, the sources said.
