Higher Education Dept launches ‘service clinic’ to clear file pendency

Higher Education Minister Roji M. John formally launched a ‘service clinic’ to streamline and expedite service-related files and grievances in the Higher Education Department. Over 8,000 files are presently pending in the department.

Inaugurating the initiative on Wednesday, the Minister said the pendency has been forcing applicants to repeatedly visit the offices for resolution. The majority of the pending cases involve service-related grievances of employees.

According to Mr. John, a majority of the 32 files considered on the opening day were disposed of immediately, while the remaining files have been kept aside for clearance upon the receipt of requisite reports. He also pointed out that a large proportion of the pending files originated from the previous government’s tenure.
